Unlike the Avengers, Marvel’s newest team consists entirely of rogue elements, including characters with dark pasts—individuals who have committed various crimes or acted as assassins under orders.

The confirmed members of the Thunderbolts include: Yelena Belova (played by Florence Pugh), the new Black Widow of the MCU; The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan); Jonathan Walker (played by Wyatt Russell), a former Captain America who is now US Agent; Red Guardian (David Harbour); Ava Starr (Hannah John-Kamen), codename Ghost; and finally, Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko). The trailer reveals that they are recruited by a secret government organization to carry out covert missions, taking orders directly from Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Val), played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

In addition, viewers are introduced to Bob, a character who seems innocent but is actually Sentry, one of the most powerful superheroes in the Marvel Universe, with abilities that rival DC’s Superman.

The trailer also teases a confrontation between the Thunderbolts and The Winter Soldier. It’s likely that Bucky will have a conflict with this unstable group of antiheroes early in the film, but ultimately, they will join forces to face an even greater threat.
